Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public speech writer. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency, a website dedicated to education, which examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. Additionally, she serves as the executive director. In her efforts to dispel the myths that are associated with females in popular culture, she seeks to bring attention to targeted exploitation of women and other marginalized classes of people in the online environment. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in political and social thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she is highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by feminist issues, gender and gender equality since a early stage of her life. When she graduated in 2009, continuing to study at the university level she started her Feminist Frequency website. A woman with ambitions to launch a web-series that would examine the gender representation of video games was targeted in an online campaign.
